Client Challenge
The University of Minnesota aimed to revolutionize public health education by creating an engaging, real-world learning experience for both current and prospective students. They needed an innovative solution that would not only capture attention but also showcase the critical role of public health in disaster response.
Beyond just learning theory, there was a strong demand for students to step into the action, experiencing firsthand the challenges of a Disaster Emergency while diving deep into the individual roles and responsibilities of the response team.
Tornado Crisis:
A Serious Game in Disaster Response
To bridge the gap between theory and real-world application, we partnered with the University of Minnesota to develop an Immersive Serious Game that puts students at the center of disaster emergency response. This innovative learning experience allows players to step into the high-stakes world of public health crisis management, where every decision has consequences. By assuming key roles within an Emergency Response Team, students navigate realistic scenarios, make critical choices, and gain a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in disaster responses within a safe yet highly engaging simulation.
A massive tornado has devastated the fictional Franklin County, and players must act. The game provides multi-perspective vantage point experience, allowing learners to assume the roles of key members of the Emergency Response Team. From coordinating medical aid to managing public communications, each decision influences the outcome, offering hands-on, strategic learning experience in a high-pressure, simulated environment.
Designed with realistic storylines and engaging visuals, this serious game blends authenticity with safety, allowing students to experiment, explore, and refine their decision-making skills without real-world consequences.
