Even though schedules can be busy and those to-do lists can go on and on, reading is a pastime that should be prioritized and embraced. But even when we do have a window of time, we often don’t know what to pick up to read! That’s why we decided to start a ttcInnovations book club! Each month, we will recommend a book from a list of our Innovators’ favorites that will contribute to personal and career growth, provide cultural and societal insight, or simply serve as some entertainment and leisure fun. So, grab a cup of steamy coffee and a cozy blanket, friends — let’s get reading!
The Compound Effect
To kick off the book club, I’d love to recommend one of my personal favorites that I recently finished on a flight across the country. Now, be prepared — if this book’s principles are implemented, they will change your life. That seems like a bold statement, but you may agree upon finishing this read. The book is called The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. In the first pages of the book, Hardy shares his personal testimony and how he came to write The Compound Effect.

Essentially, the premise of the book is that the effect of every action, habit, choice, and thought is compounded over time. Depending on those actions, habits, choices, and thoughts, we will either reap the benefits of healthy choices, or be bound by the negative impacts of unhealthy choices. If you think about it, this approach can be applied to any aspect of life. Whether it be emotional health, mental growth, physical fitness, financial success — you name it, it applies! And it is always working toward your benefit or your doom.

What’s great about his writing is that it is straight to the point, making it an easy read. After discussing the compound effect, Hardy walks you through making smart choices, turning those into long-term habits, gaining momentum for growth, establishing positive influences, and accelerating into success. If this is the pattern in which you live your life, it will no doubt have a ripple effect (for better or for worse!) on everyone around you.

Hardy doesn’t just want to leave you inspired, but well-equipped and able to implement these principles into your daily life to work toward success in every area.
